Hilke MacIntyre was born 1964 in Germany and studied at the College for Art & Architecture in Kiel. After a Diploma in Architecture she worked for various architects until she moved to Scotland in 1995 and concentrated on art. She is now working as an artist near St Andrews.

Her ceramic reliefs are created in editions of 50 by taking a plaster mould from the original design. Then slabs of soft clay are pressed into the mould to produce an identical relief, which is then fired, hand glazed and fired again.
