We can even help you hang it in your chosen spot!

"I can't speak more highly about the framing service offered by Rostra Gallery. I needed a good quality wooden frame for something I had purchased as a special present for my wife. Emma offered me some very thoughtful advice and options relating to the mount, wood grain and size of frame to complement the artwork. I'm very pleased to say the finished article exceeded expectations and most importantly, my wife was delighted to receive her perfectly framed present!"

Float mount

For prints with a 'deckled' (or torn) edge, we recommend a 'float' option. The artwork is adhered to a mountboard, leaving a white border between the print and the inside of the frame, showcasing the edge of the print. Floating is a reversible method of mounting and will not damage your artwork.

Raised float mount

Raised float is a more contemporary take on the standard float technique. We use an extra piece of mount board between the backing board and artwork, to raise the print and give the work a more ‘floating’ aesthetic.

Window mount

A window mount is used to create a 'cut out' window inside the frame of your print. The window mount sits on top of the print, usually overlapping the edges slightly, creating a clean border around the piece in a classic style. The mount width is included in the overall size when measuring frames.

We can recommend the best options for your newest piece (even if you haven’t bought the piece from us) or help with updating existing favourites.

CONSERVATION STANDARD

All the framing we undertake is to conservation standard which as well as being kind to the environment, prolongs the life of the artwork. Conservation and museum framing uses materials and methods that protect artwork from factors such as acid, light and air pollution.

Framing methods are reversible which means they can be unframed and un-mounted again at any point in the future, occasionally a customer will specify framing that means un-mounting the artwork will be harder but we will always talk you through this.

Acid free tape, mount board, backing materials and slips/fillets are used as standard for all our framing.
