Sylvia Bull
Sylvia Bull graduated with an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Anglia Ruskin University in 2008. She lives in Bristol and produces her screenprints at the Spike Island Print Studio.
Having spent over 10 years as a story artist for Aardman Animation, Sylvia’s work often has a story to tell. Drawn from childhood memories or from classic myths and children’s fairytales, her prints evoke remembered emotions, people and places.
Her starting point is always drawing and she frequently explores and experiments with botanical shapes and natural structures. These are sometimes combined with the exposed image of the dried leaves or flower stems, to help bring the real and imaginary together.
