Lizzie Parker graduated just around the corner in Bristol a little over 9 years ago and has spent the past 9 years working as a graphic designer. In 2015 she decided to follow her passion for graphic illustration and create her first collection of prints.
Lizzie's work is striking, bright and simple using just a one or two colours to depict the shadows, highlights and character of animals in several mini collections paying particular attention to their eyes.
All prints are letterpress printed on an original Heidelberg Platen printing press from the early 20th century. Letterpress is a form of relief printing using wooden or metal plates leaving a deep debossed impression, giving the work a wonderful tactile finish which can be both seen and felt. Lizzie’s work is printed on the Materica paper stock from Italian paper manufacturers Fedrigoni. Materica has a beautiful almost fabric like quality which works in perfect harmony with the letterpress printing to realise each design and create a greater impression within the printing.
Utilising letterpress printing is a modern and unique technique, completely different to the industry standard; juxtaposing the old and the new giving this work a wonderful tactile finish.
