ELEANOR BARTLMAN

Eleanor Bartleman's unique and distinctive porcelain boxes and tiles are the products of her combined interest in 16th and 17th century poetry and medieval rituals and decoration. She uses a vast range of ceramic techniques to produce the different colours and three -dimensional decoration going as far as hand making the individual stamps for the lettering and other motifs. Most recently, Eleanor has introduced a cast of characters to her work, where foxes and hares feature predominantly.

Eleanor studied Ceramics and Art and Design at the prestigeous Glasgow School of Art. Following which she worked set herself up to work full time as a ceramic artist. She has returned full time to her ceramics after a teaching role and bringing up her family in North Devon.

Every box and tile are the results of a love for making special and precious things and are made with such high quality materials as porcelain and gold. They are high fired in the kiln making them durable but should be handled with care due to the nature of the decoration.

Eleanor Bartleman is an elected member of the Appledore Crafts Company and an elected associate of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen. She has had her work at Liberty's of London and the Medici Society also in London.
