RACHEL DEACON |
|||
| Rachel Deacon was born in London and studied at Chelsea School of Art, graduating in 1991. Her work is primarily concerned with the female figure. Shapes and contours are used to create a strong composition, while rich colours and light and shadow are used to create the timeless ambience of Rachel's work. Often the starting point for Rachel's work will come from reading literature - particularly short stories and poetry. From these narratives she will translate an idea and create a scene in her work. As the viewer, one can immediately understand that what they are looking at has as much to do with what has just happened or is about to happen to these women. Rachel is inspired by such painters as Paula Rego and Frida Khalo. She has enjoyed much success through her series of regular exhibitions. |
