MYCHAEL BARRATT

Mychael Barratt was born in Toronto and studied art at the Symposium School of Art, Winnipeg, Canada and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax, Canada. He arrived in London in 1984 and worked for many years as a freelance illustrator. He studied etching at Central St Martins School of Art and became a full time printmaker in 1991.

In 1991 he became a commissioned artist for Liberty on Regent Street. He has taken part in a number of group shows there over the years and his Shakespeare prints were the inspiration for a storewide show for which he also did the window display.

His work has been included in Images, the illustration annual and one of his etchings was used in and on the cover of the Encyclopaedia of Printmaking Techniques, published by Headline, he has also appeared in an Art Business Today article.

Group shows include Railings Gallery, London; CCA, London; Bank Street Gallery, Sevenoaks; Montpellier Gallery, Cheltenham; British Printmakers at the Flagstaff Gallery, Auckland, New Zealand and three successive National Print Exhibitions in the Mall Gallery. Solo shows include Chalk Farm Gallery, London; Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester; Dales Gallery, Victoria, Canada; Cambridge Arts Theatre, Cambridge; Gallery K, Nicosia, Cyprus and 39 Essex Street, London.

Mychael's work is currently exhibited in over 30 galleries throughout the UK, a few in Canada and the United States, one in Sydney, Australia and one in Auckland, New Zealand. He is a member of Greenwich Printmakers Association and a member of South Bank Printmakers Association.
