COLIN VINCENT

After studying Fine Art at Bower Ashton College in Bristol, Colin has pursued his career as a painter in a progressive, adventurous and explorative way. Never satisfied with his achievements he works very hard to create a strong sense of atmosphere in his still lifes. Lovers of great painting will assuredly recognise the skill that this artist has.

Colin’s interests lie in the search for beauty and subtlety in simple things, concentrating on capturing the glow of light, colour and the textural effects of nature. The uneven surfaces of wood and metal, the signs of use and age are particularly fascinating to Colin who uses small primed boards to heighten the intimacy of the objects which all have a historical context. Colin has recently spent some time living in Germany and has used the northern light to great success. His paintings of that series can also be recognised by a difference in subject matter.

He has admitted to admiring the works of the “old masters” but it is fairly evident that were they alive they would certainly be admiring this work of a 21st century old master. Rostra and Rooksmoor Galleries are very proud to be able to exhibit such a rare talent.
