VICTORIA PURVER

Victoria graduated from Loughborough University in 2001 with a degree in printed textiles. Since then she has been selling her work internationally for use in publishing, fashion and interiors. Her work has been featured and applauded at art and design fairs as far a field as Germany and New York. Most recently Victoria graduated with a Masters from Bath Spa University and went on to win a special commendation at a major Paris design show.

Her inspiration for the collection is taken from the exuberance and vitality of flowers which have been an exciting subject in which to enjoy colour and form. Her emphasis is to re-create the original freshness and impact of the still life through expressive mark making. A recent research trip to Japan confirmed her love of ancient Japanese painting, particularly the confidence and subtlety of brush strokes.

In her 'Springtime' series Victoria has showed a selection of mixed media acrylic, ink and collage paintings which represent the powerful awakening of nature in this season. The collection can be likened to the work of painters such as Raoul Dufy and Sonia Delaunay who's lively yet 'moody' paintings defined the art deco look of the 1920's and 1930's a period which Victoria admires for its art and style.
