PAINE PROFFITT

Paine Proffitt is an artist who has enjoyed developing his work into the style that we see today. He has combined two of his passions to create a highly distinctive body of work which is garnering him much success as a contemporary artist.

Still a young man, Paine has lived in Vietnam, Kenya, Lebanon, England as well as various states in America, the country of his birth. During these travels the constant, was the urge to sketch and draw. Paine studied Illustration at Rhode Island School of Design (USA) which included a year of study at the University of Brighton (UK). On graduating Paine became a successful and high profile artist and illustrator having a great body of work published in national and international newspapers, magazines and books.

In 2001, Paine married and moved to England where he took to Rugby and Football like a native! He reassessed his painting making a conscious effort to incorporate his new found passions into his art. Rugby and football soon became the main inspiration and subject matter of his paintings. The players are seen in iconic poses harking back to medieval saints giving them a modern take on the status of how sports stars are seen today as well as the more triumphal scenes of scoring.

Paine’s work is on permanent display at the museum of Rugby in Twickenham, London. We are very pleased to be able to preview his Bath rugby paintings here.
