| Nicola lives in Dorset, where the surrounding countryside and coast are a constant source of inspiration. In 2005 she was selected for the prestigious tri-annual ‘Open Painting’ exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy. Nicola makes extensive drawings and takes photographs of the subject. Texture plays a major part in the painting, giving an organic and earthy feel which adds to the depth of the painting. Upon this, layers of paint are built up sometimes with veils of delicate translucent washes to create a feeling of light and atmosphere. This latest collection features the slender and graceful shapes of Birch Trees, which lend themselves perfectly to her style and technique in using mixed media. |
