HANNAH COLE

Hannah was born and grew up in North Devon and has maintained a strong affinity with the coast and landscape in the region. She also spent some time living in Morocco as a child, the memories of which still influence her work. In 1991 she moved to Brighton to study Illustration at Brighton University.

After graduating in 1994, she set up as a freelance illustrator. This resulted in several commissions including book illustration, greetings cards and gift-wrap design for companies such as BBC, PaperHouse and Bloomsbury Publishing.

Hannah exhibited paintings for the first time in 2001 as part of the Brighton Festival Open House exhibition. Since then, her work has gradually become more widely recognized, and she has been able to start painting full time. Her scenes are drawn mainly from memory and imagination.

She is currently represented by several galleries in the south of England, and works from a studio in the centre of Brighton. Recent commissions include fine art cards for Canns Down Press and Paperclip International. She is also involved in educational projects running craft and mural workshops in schools.
